Can I sort my results based on recency?

Answer

Yes, in general we recommend that recency is used in combination with other searching criteria so that more recent items are given priority instead of setting a strict order by date.

Our default ‘website’ pipeline also boosts recent content but only by a small amount.

Our ‘recent’ pipeline has a much stronger boost for recent content. However, if there are records in the collection that do not have ‘published_time’ or ‘modified_time’ metadata, then it can produce unexpected results ordering.

Our crawler records both published and modified times for pages as set by OpenGraph or Schema.org metadata on the page.
